Lindsay's Grammar Review
Definition:
When quoting textual evidence or dialogue use the following rules:
1. Have a description or an introduction before the quote. (Do NOT start
the sentence with the quote)
2. Have a comma before the first apostrophe mark.
3. Add one punctuation mark(,.!?) to end the quote.
4. Capitalize the first letter in the quote unless you use ellipses... to show
evidence in the middle of the sentence/paragraph from the text.
5. If you have dialogue in the quote then write another apostrophe. (Single
quote) ( But if the quote is just dialogue, the normal “blank” are fine.)
Sentences to Correct:
1)In the book, fire, a man said “...Oh save me... I'm a dead man”
