Osmosis Poster Project
Osmosis is an interesting concept that can be used to explain
causes of disease and how common drugs work to save lives.
Someday, researchers may be able to provide clean drinking
water to impoverished communities by applying the concept of
osmosis. Even though we know osmosis occurs, scientists have
only begun to figure out the how water is able to pass through
the cell membrane.
You will be assigned one of the osmosis-related topics:
1. Aquaporins
2. How Penicillin Works
3. The Cause of Cystic Fibrosis
4. Reverse Osmosis
Please create a poster that addresses the topic and its relation to
osmosis. The poster is to be started in class and finished on your
own time. Each student will create his/her own poster. Each
poster must have:
1. A title
2. The definition of your topic (aquaporin, penicillin, cystic
fibrosis, reverse osmosis).
3. A thorough explanation of your topic’s relation to
osmosis.
4. Definitions and descriptions of all associated terms or ideas
(If you come across something you don’t know about,
look it up and define it on the poster.)
5. Your poster should be 50% text and 50% pictures.
6. At least three sources.
1
You can write on your poster or type the text and paste it on.
You can draw the pictures or print them and paste them on.
You may not:
1. Cut and paste the exact text from a website. Instead,
rewrite it in your own words.
2. Print entire pages of text and pictures and simply glue
them to a poster.
The artistic design of the poster is entirely up to you.
