Definition
The vertex of a parabola
is the highest or lowest
point, also known as the
maximum or minimum of
a parabola.
A line of symmetry for a
graph. The two sides of a
graph on either side of the
axis of symmetry look
like mirror images of each
other.
The x-intercepts are the
points or the point at
which the parabola
intersects the x-axis. A
parabola can have either
2,1 or zero real xintercepts.
The y-intercept is the
point at which the
parabola intercepts the yaxis
U-shaped graph of a
quadratic equation. When
the coefficient of x2 is
positive the graph opens
up, if the coefficient is
negative the graph opens
down.
Is a function that can be
written in the form
f (x) = ax2 + bx+ c where
a, b, and c are real
numbers. Parabola: The
graph of a squaring
function is called a
parabola.
Factoring quadratics finds
the roots or x-intercepts
of a quadratic equation.
Factoring quadratic
equations in standard
form, can often be
accomplished by finding
two numbers that add to
give b, and multiply to
give ac.
The vertex form of a

quadratic function is
given by. f (x) = a(x - h)2
+ k, where (h, k) is the
vertex of the parabola,
and x = h is the axis of
symmetry.
