WORLD WAR I RESEARCH QUESTION
Directions: Your goal is to meet achievement level 7-8 for IB Criterion B –
Investigating. Try to start your research question with the word “HOW” or “WHY”.
Create an action plan to investigate your question. Follow your action plan. Collect
and record information from four sources. Write/type your response. Your answer
should be between 250-300 words.
This research question should primarily focus on America’s involvement in the war.

Criterion B - Investigating
The student does not reach a standard described by any of the descriptors
below.

makes a limited attempt to address the research question.
The student formulates an adequate research question AND partially follows an
action plan to investigate a research question AND uses a method or methods to
collect and record some information in line with the research question AND

The student formulates a clear research question AND satisfactorily follows an
action plan to investigate a research question AND uses methods to collect and
record appropriate information in line with the research question AND
satisfactorily addresses the research question.
The student formulates a clear and focused research question AND follows an
action plan effectively to investigate a research question AND uses methods
accurately to collect and record appropriate and varied information in line with
