SEQUENCE N°1 : Super heroes – Marvel poster recap
This document is a poster made by Marvel, the famous American comic book company that created
many super heroes. We can see the logo of the company in the bottom right-hand corner of the
picture.

 In the foreground, we can see Spiderman, one of Marvel’s most famous super hero. He is dressed
in his red and blue skin tight suit and mask. Wolverine is standing just behind him. He is wearing a
golden and black suit, belt and mask and has got black gloves with retractable claws. On his right, in
the middle of the picture, we can see Captain America, wearing his star-spangled costume and mask:
the stripes on his belt and the white star on his chest refer to the American flag (called ‘the stars
and stripes’) . The letter ‘A’ on his forehead stands for ‘America’. On the left, Hulk, the huge green
dark-haired and dangerous-looking creature is standing next to Daredevil dressed in his brick-red
suit with a double ‘D’ for ‘DareDevil’ on the chest. In the background we can recognize Mr Fantastic
with his flexible elastic body. He’s one of the members of the Fantastic Four that’s why the number
4 is written on his chest. His friend , the angry-looking ‘Thing’ is standing on his left; the Human
Torch can be seen in the top right-hand corner of the picture ; The fourth member of the team , a
long blond-haired young woman called Invisible woman, is standing on the left near the top of the
picture. On her left a very strong-built man dressed in a blue suit and red cloak/cape is brandishing a
hammer. His name is Thor and he is also one of Marvel’s well-known super hero. In the top left-hand
corner we can see the silver surfer on his surf. Five more super heroes or heroines are flying in the
distance at the top of the picture.

All of them are super heroes and were created by the American comic book company called Marvel.
All of them have superpowers or extraordinary abilities.
All of them fight against Evil.
Most of them wear a colourful tight-fitting costume or suit.
Most of them have got a mask to preserve their secret identity/ not to be recognized.
Most of them are men / male characters.
Some of them have got a logo / motif or theme on their chest to be easily identified
Some of them can fly;
Some of them are women / female characters.
None of them really exist!
None of them are ordinary human beings!
