Writing Assignment #6
GET YOUR GOD/GODDESS, HERO, SEER, OR WITCH CAST IN A REALITY SHOW!
The gods of Mount Olympus, while unique and highly powerful in their individual ways, were (and are)
extremely competitive. In addition, the physical and mental prowess the heroes exhibit in their own
adventures, as well as the clarity and jealousy of the seers and witches or the brute force the monsters reveal,
make for some very unique characters.
A new game-show-style reality show is coming out – with room for a limited number of Greek gods and
goddesses, heroes, seers, and witches. The show will require contestants to compete in physical, mental, and
magical competitions – with the ultimate prize being announced at the end. Your job, as the agent of one of
these clients, is to prepare for the casting people a persuasive essay about why your particular client deserves a
spot on the show.

Within the essay, be sure to give a detailed history of your chosen client. Things to include:
o Greek and Roman name and their title (if they have them)
o Powers/skills, symbols, and any major events they are associated with or what he/she is best known for
o Any notable relationships (good or bad) with other gods/goddesses, mortals, or monsters

Make a strong case, convincing readers that your god/goddess, hero, seer, or witch would make for
excellent television, thus attracting viewers. In other words, always tie your points back to why your
client should be chosen for the show.

To create 10 notecards and a complete essay, you MUST use at LEAST 4 sources (4 BIB cards)(two
MUST be book sources (encyclopedias may count)) and include a Works Cited page (YLHS Style
Guide).
