ADVANCED GEOMETRY 7.3 Formulas Involving Polygons Learner Objective: I will use important formulas that apply to polygons to solve problems. Names of Familiar Polygons Formulas: 1. Sum of interior angles (n is the number of sides): 2. Sum of exterior angles: 3. Total number of diagonals: Find the sum of the measures of the angles of the figure. Find the number of diagonals that can be drawn in a pentadecagon. What is the name of a polygon if the sum of the measures of its angles is 1080? What is the sum of the interior angles of an undecagon? A quadrilateral? Three of the angles of a pentagon are right angles. The two remaining angles are congruent. Find the measure of one of the two remaining angles. What is the name of the polygon whose interior angles total 2340°? That total 1080°? How many diagonals can be drawn in a decagon? A heptagon? What is the name of the polygon that has 104 diagonals? 54 diagonals? What is the sum of the exterior angles of a pentadecagon? A 25-gon? Complete the table. See if you can observe a pattern.
