The Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, India, United Kingdom, United States of America characteristics. Introduction A constitution is the framework of a government's institutions; it describes structural arrangements, allocates functional powers and establishes limits to political authority. It is a supreme law of the nation-state and reflects its character and political culture. Therefore the performance of even artfully drafted constitution largely depends upon various historical, social, ideological, economic and political factors of the state it represents. The problem and issues of governance, thus, cannot be resolved solely through constitution making. Pakistan has written constitution of the sovereign country, containing 280 articles in 7 Chapters, 5 schedules, and 20 amendments India has the longest written constitution of any sovereign country in the world, containing 448 articles in 25 parts, 12 schedules, 5 appendices and 98 amendments. Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar is widely regarded as the father of the Indian Constitution. US has a Constitution of originally four pages long. It was 4618 words long, including the signatures. However since then there have been 27 amendments UK has an un-written Constitution. 1. Origin. The Pakistan, Indian & US Constitution is a result of borrowings ideas from other countries whereas UK Constitution is Unique because it is original by effort of Centuries. 2. Written The Pakistan, Indian & US Constitution written whereas UK Constitution is un-written, based on customs of long history. 3. Length Indian Constitution is Longest healthy document, US has the shortest Constitution, Pakistan has in between of both and there is no measurement of UK Constitution as it is un-written The constitution of India is being criticized on the ground that it is the most lengthy and detailed constitutional document the world has so far produced. The constitution of India is called as the carbon copy of the Act of 1935. The fathers of the constitution have borrowed a large number of provisions from the Act of 1935 and made them part of the new constitution. 4. Sovereignty democratic republic All four documents represents a Sovereign democratic republic. 5. Both Rigid and Flexible The Amendments are possible in Pakistan, India & UK & USA constitutions 6. Religion of State Except Pakistan, all three constitutions are Secular, whereas Pakistan has an Islamic constitution. 7. Independence of Judiciary The Judiciary of all four countries is independent pillar of respective state. 8. Fundamental Rights All for Constitutions elaborate Fundamental Rights. 9. Fundamental Duties All four Constitutions impose some duties to its citizens. 10. Cabinet System of Ministers Except US the ministers forms cabinets, whereas in US the responsibility is born by secretaries. 11. Post of PM Pakistan, India & UK has parliamentary form of government hence the chief executive of the government is Prime-minister, while being the head of government in US is President, he is the chief executive. 12. Parliamentary Type of Government Pakistan, India & UK has parliamentary form of government whereas the US constitution is Presidential 13. Lower House more powerful In all four countries has two houses for law making AND the Lower House in more powerful then the Upper one. In Pakistan. Lower House is Nation Assembly & Upper House is Senate In India. Lower House is Loke Sbha & Upper House is Raje Sbha In UK. Lower House is House of Common & Upper House is House of Lords In USA. Lower House is Representative & Upper House is Senate 14. Council of Ministers responsible to Lowe House The misters can be chosen from both houses but the they are generally excepted from the lower house. 15. Supreme Court All Countries have highest level of Judiciary as Supreme Court 16.
