Course Syllabus for World Studies Elective, SST 107, .5 Credit
1. Course Description
Through use of Plato curricula, will demonstrate understanding of world history. Students
will investigate of past events and draw parallels to current world issues. Students will
synthesize historical and current events to analyze the impact of historical events upon
societies, governments, cultures, and individuals of current times.
Learning Goals/Objectives
Students will
Understand and analyze historical time and chronology
Understand events, trends, individuals, and movements shaping the world
Examine the influence of culture on the world
Understand the origin and impact of ideas and technological developments on world
history
Analyze how the contributions of various cultural groups influence society.

World History II: Medieval Times to the Mid-1800s
1. The Development of Medieval Monarchies in Europe

3. The Development of National Monarchies in Europe
4. The Early Development of Japan and its People
5. Mongols, Moguls, and Ottomans
6. Ming Dynasty
7. The Age of New World Exploration

2. Grading Policy
Students need to pass each Mastery Test by 80% or more to pass the class
