Geometry B Study Guide Chapter 3 Test The test consists of the following: Part A: 5 questions, identify lines as skew, perpendicular or parallel (10 points) Part B: 7 questions, identify types of angles (14 points) Part C: 3 questions, given a graph, determine slopes and identify lines as parallel, perpendicular or neither (9 pts) Part D: 6 questions, solve for the variable (24 points) Part E: 1 multi-part question, determine the measures of angles in a diagram (14 points) Parts F and G: 4 questions, parallel lines (12 points) Part H: 3 questions, writing equations of lines (9 points) You must: 1) know the vocabulary in this chapter. 2) be able to identify and name angle relationships (linear pair, vertical, corresponding, alternate interior, alternate exterior, consecutive interior). 3) know the postulates/theorems that apply to the angle relationships (congruent or sum to 180º). 4) be able to use angle relationships to solve for angle measures or to find the value of an unknown variable. 5) be able to determine the slope of a line from a graph, equation or two points. 6) know how to determine if lines are parallel or perpendicular. 7) be able to write equations for lines with specified characteristics (slope, intercept, through a given point). You will find extra practice for this chapter on pp. 807-808 in your text. Geometry B Chapter 3 Vocabulary List Make sure you know what these terms mean so that you are able to identify the figures or angles in diagrams. Parallel lines Perpendicular lines Skew lines Parallel planes Transversal corresponding angles alternate interior angles alternate exterior angles consecutive interior angles From previous chapters don’t forget: Vertical angles Supplementary angles Right angle linear pair complementary angles bisect
