2001 up to now - Group leader of Natural Products Laboratory at ICB.
The scientific activity has been mainly oriented to the definition of the structure and
the stereochemistry of new molecules from marine invertebrates. In particular, the
interest has been directed toward the characterisation of chemical mediators of
benthic organisms (chemical defence, trophic relationships, etc.). Most studies have
been focused to the chemical ecology of opisthobranch molluscs, which represent
extraordinary models to select lead-compounds for drug development. In recent
years, the research interest has been mainly focused to the discovery of new
molecules with antitumor activity from molluscs, sponges and marine plants. Some
studies have been also undertaken on medicinal plants from desert regions of North
Africa.
She authored about 170 peer-reviewed articles (h-index: 29).
