Super Goal
The forest management activities will be promoted in the twenty
municipalities, which were specified as the target areas in the M/P
formulated by JICA, through the organization of the joint technical
support teams.
Overall Goal
Soil and water conservation will be improved through forest
management activities of the villagers in the three target
municipalities (San Jose de Achuapa, El Sauce and Santa Rosa
del Peñon).
Project Purpose
Sustainable forest management activities*1 by participants will be
promoted in the target communities in the three target
municipalities.
Outputs
1. Forest management plans for disaster prevention will be
formulated in the target communities.
The forest area in the three municipalities increase by

Activities
0-1. Select 9 target communities (3 communities/ each of 3 municipalities are assumed.)
0-2. Conduct rural appraisal in the target communities, arrange the data and analyze the result.
0-3. Conduct monitoring, evaluation and follow-up in each of the following activities.
1-1. Support each target community to establish villager’s groups.
1-2. Support each target community to formulate individual forest management plan for disaster
prevention.
1-3. Support each household to formulate individual work plan in the target communities.
2-1. Organize joint technical support teams composed of officers of INAFOR and the municipalities.
2-2. Transfer administrative knowledge and techniques of forest management to officers of INAFOR
and the municipalities.
3-1. Transfer knowledge and techniques of forest management to villagers in the target communities.
3-2. Support each of the target communities in organization of fire brigades and their activities.
4-1. Develop teaching materials of environmental education for villagers in the target communities.
4-2. Conduct environmental education to villagers in the target communities.
