Magnetic resonance imaging of cardiac sarcoidosis: an evaluation
Magnetic resonance imaging of cardiac sarcoidosis: an evaluation

... Myocardial biopsy, which is considered to be the gold standard method for detecting CS, is highly specific, but it is invasive and exhibits poor sensitivity (the diagnostic yield can be as low as 19%) because of the patchy nature of the disease.5) Non-invasive imaging techniques, such as echocardiog ...

Cardiac lesions associated with cardiopulmonary

... Cardiac lesions during CPR are rare, and usually not involved in thanatologic chains. Krischer [20], on a study of 705 deaths after CPR found cardiovascular lesions to occur in 10.6% of cases ( a total of 72 lesions), the majority of which were hemoperitoneum (8.4%), epicardial hematoma (2.7%), and ...

... myocardial perfusion at tissue level may be insufficient. We hypothesized that the outcome of patients with STEMI/ bundle branch block (BBB)-myocardial infarction and post-PCI TIMI 3 flow is related to the time to reperfusion. Methods. Observational study based on a retrospective analysis of populat ...

Response of myocardial oxygenation to breathing manoeuvres and

... It is known that breathing manoeuvres, i.e. hyperventilation and long breath-holds, elicit significant changes of cerebral and coronary perfusion,4 – 6 largely induced by the vasodilatory effects of blood carbon dioxide, which increases with apnoea and decreases with hyperventilation. While most ima ...

Jatene procedure

The Jatene procedure, or arterial switch, is an open heart surgical procedure used to correct dextro-transposition of the great arteries (d-TGA); its development was pioneered by Canadian cardiac surgeon William Mustard and it was named for Brazilian cardiac surgeon Adib Jatene, who was the first to use it successfully. It was the first method of d-TGA repair to be attempted, but the last to be put into regular use because of technological limitations at the time of its conception. Use of the arterial switch is historically preceded by two atrial switch methods: the Senning and Mustard procedures. This surgery may be used in combination with other procedures for treatment of certain cases of double outlet right ventricle (DORV) in which the great arteries are dextro-transposed.
