Cloning, Stem-Cell Research, and the Bible

... Cloning and stem-cell research raise profound ethical questions, beginning with the threat they pose to the sanctity of human life. Human beings, created in the image of God (Gen. 1:26–27), deserve protection all the way from conception through natural death. One of the key passages giving a biblica ...

Alternative Splicing A very short introduction (in plants)

Other factors, such as a particular chromatin structure (3) or promoter strength (20), may also play a role in determining Snf兾Swi action. In addition, Snf兾Swi-control could be exerted at the level of chromosomal domains rather ...

... Nearest neighbor analysis was used to identify the modified nucleotides formed (34). About 4 × 106 c.p.m. of [α-32P]GTPor [α-32P]ATP-labeled tRNA transcripts were methylated in vitro with [14C]AdoMet as methyl donor. The enzyme source was either a crude extract from pET-hTRM1 plasmid-carrying E.coli ...

The human Y chromosome: the biological role of a “functional

... The Y is one of the smallest chromosomes in the human genome (∼ 60 Mb) and represent around 2%–3% of a haploid genome. Cytogenetic observations based on chromosome-banding studies allowed different Y regions to be identified: the pseudoautosomal portion (divided into two regions: PAR1 and PAR2) and t ...

NEDD9

Neural precursor cell expressed developmentally down-regulated protein 9 (NEDD-9) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the NEDD9 gene. NEDD-9 is also known as enhancer of filamentation 1 (EF1), CRK-associated substrate-related protein (CAS-L), and Cas scaffolding protein family member 2 (CASS2). An important paralog of this gene is BCAR1.
