How the National Grid System Operates
How the National Grid System Operates

... Š Switches are used to direct the flow of electricity. They are not used to clear faults. Š Fuses interrupt the flow of electricity when a fault condition exists. Š Relays sense specific conditions on the electric system and instruct breakers and switches to open or close. (over current, low voltage ...

... The fact that the top circuit can be modeled as either a voltage source (Thevinin’s theorem) or a current source (Norton’s Theorem) has an important implication: That any signal transducer can be thought of a either a voltage source or a current source. So, the question of “what is it” is one that i ...

Stray voltage

Stray voltage is the occurrence of electrical potential between two objects that ideally should not have any voltage difference between them. Small voltages often exist between two grounded objects in separate locations, due to normal current flow in the power system. Large voltages can appear on the enclosures of electrical equipment due to a fault in the electrical power system, such as a failure of insulation.
