... 2.2.2. No cloning. But if Bob has many particles in the same state he can perform measurements to determine that state. For example, he can let N ( 1) photons pass through polarization-dependent beam splitters and thereby determine with a high degree of accuracy whether a measurement of linear or ci ...

Of the four commercial FBG sensor wavelengths available (1544, 1548, 1552, and 1556nm), the 1552nm FBG had a 3dB point closest to one of the pass ban ...

The light curve is characterized by an extremely deep total eclipse (with a depth of more than 4.5m) of symmetrical shape and a total duration of 3.5 yr. The eclipse is essentially gray. The spectra acquired with the Russia ...

... storage [3]. There was a decrease in the absorption as the dip time increased from 70 to 90 mins. This is likely due to an increase in the transmittance and reflection of the film as the dip time increases as shown in Figures 5 and 7. This implies that at a higher dip time, transparent films are obt ...

Magnetic circular dichroism

Magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) is the differential absorption of left and right circularly polarized (LCP and RCP) light, induced in a sample by a strong magnetic field oriented parallel to the direction of light propagation. MCD measurements can detect transitions which are too weak to be seen in conventional optical absorption spectra; they can also probe paramagnetic properties and the symmetry of the electronic levels of the studied systems, such as metal ion sites.
