... cavity ringdown spectroscopy (FS-CRDS), in which the length of ringdown cavity was stabilized to an external absolute frequency reference [19, 20]. Compared to CRDS based on pulse laser sources, the CW-CRDS can achieve higher spectral resolution and also higher couple efficiency of laser intensity t ...
The Doppler Effect of Absorption Spectral Lines in Moving
The Doppler Effect of Absorption Spectral Lines in Moving

... Since in the star/atmosphere system both velocities are the same, (VE = VD), one is tempted to say, from Eq. (3.1), that the classical Doppler Effect is zero, just as in the case of the Relativistic Doppler formula which depends only upon the relative velocity between E and D, namely, VED. But here ...

The SOI waveguides so far seem to be an ideal technical solution for planar photonic integrated circuits. Besides perfect optical characteristics, this material ...

Optical Materials for LWIR Applications
Optical Materials for LWIR Applications

... LWIR is the lack of available optical materials. An engineer designing a visible system has hundreds of different materials at his/her disposal with high variability in optical, thermal, and mechanical properties. Conversely, there are relatively few materials (approximately 10 materials) available ...

... Using a common approach the semiclassical theory of nonlinear spectroscopy which assumes a classical optical field interacting with a quantum matter has had a great success in describing coherent measurements [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8]. The signals are written in terms of response functions. The respon ...
Integrated Optics
Integrated Optics

... • Integrated optics is a system of light-controlling components combined into a single device. The ultimate aim is to create miniature optical circuits similar to the silicon chips that have revolutionized the electronics industry. The advantage of the optical approach however is that data can be pr ...

Magnetic circular dichroism

Magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) is the differential absorption of left and right circularly polarized (LCP and RCP) light, induced in a sample by a strong magnetic field oriented parallel to the direction of light propagation. MCD measurements can detect transitions which are too weak to be seen in conventional optical absorption spectra; they can also probe paramagnetic properties and the symmetry of the electronic levels of the studied systems, such as metal ion sites.
