On the influence of wind and waves on underwater

... by Hieronymi et al. (2012). At small depths, the underwater light regime is governed by high-frequency and small-scale intensity changes (e.g. Snyder and Dera, 1970; Hieronymi and Macke, 2010; Darecki et al., 2011). For this reason, we choose a high spatial resolution of dx = 2.5 mm for our nearsurf ...

Optical phonon participates in SRS but acoustic photon participates in SBS. Due to SRS power transferred from shorter wavelength channels to the longer wavelength c ...

When it absorbs a a+ photon, it jumps to eo. Then, by stimulated emission of a a- photon, it falls tog+l, from where it can be reexcited t ...

To assist comparison with the results of Sutherland et al. (1999), only the vertical component of the density field is shown. The field of view extend ...

... JHK peak amplitudes are smaller. We suspect that this has a consequence for the height of the egress-maximum, which tends to be smaller as well. The behaviour in L during the 1997.9 and 1992.4 peaks and at other wavelengths is even more peculiar than in 2003.5 and 1981.3. Apparently, the maximum is ...

... 1.3 Motivation and thesis outline The goals of this work are several. The first is the contribution to the understanding of optical fields. In scanning near-field optical microscopy, the field generated by an object, especially by sub-wavelength objects, is different from the object itself. In gener ...

... MAXI, RXTE, Swift, and XMM-Newton observations during its 2010/2011 outburst. We find that during the first one and a half week of the outburst the X-ray light curves display drops in intensity at regular intervals, which we interpret as absorption dips. About three weeks into the outbursts, again d ...

Levine-Xue bond theory and chemical bonding theory of single crystal growth indicate that some important functional groups such as hydrogen bonds and ammonia group play a very important role in crystallization and nonlinear optical performances (Dongli Xu and Dongfeng Xue 2008, Xiue Ren et al 2008, ...

Influence of polarization direction, incidence angle, and geometry on

... TGNWs have been investigated by using the vector wave function method. When the polarization direction is perpendicular to the incidence plane, it is found that with the increase in the incidence angle, the LFF of TGNW decreases first and then increases. The minimum LFF is observed at an incidence an ...

Magnetic circular dichroism

Magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) is the differential absorption of left and right circularly polarized (LCP and RCP) light, induced in a sample by a strong magnetic field oriented parallel to the direction of light propagation. MCD measurements can detect transitions which are too weak to be seen in conventional optical absorption spectra; they can also probe paramagnetic properties and the symmetry of the electronic levels of the studied systems, such as metal ion sites.
