Selftrapped phase singularities of optical fields have been observed experimentally in the form of single-charge discrete optical vortices in square photonic lattices 关2–4兴. In addition, many of the theoretical and experimental studies demon ...

The presence of nickel in the search for stable, non-toxic, low molecular weight complexes of this metal that have SOD activity (functional models) and could be substituted for SOD in clinical applications with desirable qualities being cell permeability, ...

... Electrical to optical video converters generally have a BNC coaxial cable connector at the input and a fiber optic connector on the output. In order to get the digital bits down the fiber optic cable, a light emitting device is used, onto which the digital signal is modulated. Either a laser or an L ...

The spin flow is usually associated with inhomogeneous circular polarization while the orbital flow is due to the explicit energy redistribution within an optical beam. In view of such important and useful ...

... Nice sharp images are formed on a flat focal plane only for paraxial rays. Rays entering the optical system far off-axis will degrade the desired flat image, as they will not focus on the focal plane, but on the curved focal surface. Thus, while in general the size of a lens determines the brightnes ...

Magnetic circular dichroism

Magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) is the differential absorption of left and right circularly polarized (LCP and RCP) light, induced in a sample by a strong magnetic field oriented parallel to the direction of light propagation. MCD measurements can detect transitions which are too weak to be seen in conventional optical absorption spectra; they can also probe paramagnetic properties and the symmetry of the electronic levels of the studied systems, such as metal ion sites.
