... to create a zero order image of size suitable for dispersion. To the right are the tolerances necessary to support the dispersed spectrum. Each tolerance is dependent on the variable ε. We use epsilon as an approach to a tolerance budget. If ε is set to one, then that tolerance will consume all of t ...

Spectral domain technology not only offers structural retinal imaging but also allows imaging of retinal blood flow similar to Doppler ultrasound.15 The flow sensitivity of Doppler OCT greatly depends on the mechanical or phase stability of the OCT system and on how fast images can be taken.16,17 Be ...

... Methods for delivering precision positioning with PZTs when used in open-loop have been proposed. These methods account for the creep by modeling it as a logarithmic term [4] and mitigate hysteresis by adding a quadratic phase term [5] to the position set by a voltage. While these solutions have bee ...

Experimental and Theoretical Studies in Optical Coherence Theory

... Both these two topics, coherence and polarization, are studied in this thesis. After more than 300 years of study devoted to the wave nature of light, it was discovered in the mid-1970s that light fields have a fine structure smaller than the wavelength. This has lead to a new branch of optics, call ...

Magnetic circular dichroism

Magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) is the differential absorption of left and right circularly polarized (LCP and RCP) light, induced in a sample by a strong magnetic field oriented parallel to the direction of light propagation. MCD measurements can detect transitions which are too weak to be seen in conventional optical absorption spectra; they can also probe paramagnetic properties and the symmetry of the electronic levels of the studied systems, such as metal ion sites.
