... Figure 4 shows the time dependence of the probability of recollision (plotted as a current density). The reader is referred to ref. 6 for details. In brief, Fig. 4 is obtained by following the classical trajectories that are populated by tunneling. Figure 4 can then be used to simulate the results o ...

The asymmetric nuclear region of M83 and its off

... The barred spiral galaxy M83 is one of the closest galaxies hosting a nuclear starburst. It is almost face-on (i=24◦ Comte 1981), and at a distance of 4.5 Mpc (Thim et al. 2003) it allows excellent spatial resolution (1′′ =22 pc) over the active region. The nuclear region has been studied in detail ...

Interference experiments with the fluorescence light of Ba ions
Interference experiments with the fluorescence light of Ba ions

... For example, the cavity resonance is split into two peaks which are separated by the coupling constant between the atom and the resonator. Also, an excited atom emits its fluorescence photons mainly into the cavity. These cavity QED experiments now use cold atoms falling through a small resonator wi ...

From the early days of nanoplasmonics, there has been keen attention paid to the localization of SP eigenmodes, because it was immediately clear that absence of any characteristic wavelength of the localized SPs leads to the possibility of their concentration in nanoscopic volumes of the space [117, ...

Magnetic circular dichroism

Magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) is the differential absorption of left and right circularly polarized (LCP and RCP) light, induced in a sample by a strong magnetic field oriented parallel to the direction of light propagation. MCD measurements can detect transitions which are too weak to be seen in conventional optical absorption spectra; they can also probe paramagnetic properties and the symmetry of the electronic levels of the studied systems, such as metal ion sites.
