Research paper : FIBER OPTIC CABLES FOR

... System requirements usually determine several of the laser beam characteristics, such as wavelength, energy, pulse width, and repetition rate. These will dictate the optical power level of the system. Along with the injected spot size, based on fiber core size, the optical energy density being injec ...

... which makes it possible to work with fast-moving objects, and (ii) the possibility of making measurements on extremely rough surfaces where other sensors such as, for example, triangulation [1] do not reach the required performance. The proposed technique is based on the well-known speckle effect di ...

It seems to represent the way in which our perspective of the Universe has changed drastically over the last 400 years, with the rise of science showing us just how insignificant we are. William Herschel said, on the discovery of Uranus in 1781, “I have looked further into space tha ...

These methods, developed before the advent of the Schrödinger equation, remain useful as an intuitive way of thinking about atomic structure and transitions between the energy levels. ... In general, it is extremely difficult to detect planets directly, and it is much more common to detect extrasolar planets indirectly using one of the techniques outlined in this section. Planets are very faint compared to their host stars, and the planet’s light is generally swamped by the much more ...

Laboratory measurements and analysis of the microwave and millimeter-wave spectra of potential interstellar molecules are a prerequisite for their subsequent identification by radioastronomical techniques. The spectral analysis provides spectroscopic parameters that are used in the assignme ...

... In this thesis, we present several mechanisms leading to pattern formation in soliton-supporting media. In Chapter 2, we propagate optical temporal solitons in a multistage fiber optic system to generate exact Cantor Set fractals [52]. The fractal is generated from a single input soliton. This soli ...

Magnetic circular dichroism

Magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) is the differential absorption of left and right circularly polarized (LCP and RCP) light, induced in a sample by a strong magnetic field oriented parallel to the direction of light propagation. MCD measurements can detect transitions which are too weak to be seen in conventional optical absorption spectra; they can also probe paramagnetic properties and the symmetry of the electronic levels of the studied systems, such as metal ion sites.
