AN-737: How ADIsimADC Models an ADC

... not a bit exact model. These types of models are often found in digital systems. In dealing with analog functions, there is never a known response for a given input because of noise, distortion, and other nonlinearities. While some portion of the response may be predictable, much of the remainder is ...

... relay, the maximum operating voltage of the power switch is the peak voltage of one transformer. Taking into account the input voltage variations (20 to 30 VAC), the peak DC voltage rises up to 43 V. For that reason, this design uses power MOSFETs with a breakdown voltage of 60 V. ...

... Machine Model The Machine Model for ESD testing uses a 200pF storage capacitor and zero-discharge resistance. Its objective is to mimic the stress caused by contact that occurs with handling and assembly during manufacturing. Of course, all pins (not just RS-232 inputs and outputs) require this prot ...

Buck converter

A buck converter is a voltage step down and current step up converter. The simplest way to reduce the voltage of a DC supply is to use a linear regulator (such as a 7805), but linear regulators waste energy as they operate by dissipating excess power as heat. Buck converters, on the other hand, can be remarkably efficient (95% or higher for integrated circuits), making them useful for tasks such as converting the main voltage in a computer (12V in a desktop, 12-24V in a laptop) down to the 0.8-1.8V needed by the processor.
