polyfuse® ptc selection guide
polyfuse® ptc selection guide

... When to apply a resettable PTC vs. a traditional fuse is always the choice of the designer or technician but in some cases, PTC’s offer a convenient form of circuit protection to improve the reliability of an application. There is an important area of applications where the use of resettable fuses ( ...

If one lead is clamped to the hot wire first and you touch the meter’s other test lead, you could receive an electric shock. The maximum input limit for voltage measurement is 600 V DC/AC (RMS). To avoid electr ...

LTC3107 - Ultra-Low Voltage Energy Harvester and Primary Battery

... The LTC3107 is designed to use the battery to start-up the IC and power VOUT and VLDO with or without any harvested energy available. If there is no harvester input, or insufficient harvester input to power the load, then VOUT will be provided by the battery through a current-limited switch internal ...

... Ohm’s law states that the voltage across a resistance is directly proportional to the current flowing through it. The resistance, measured in ohms, is the constant of proportionality between the voltage and current. A circuit element whose electrical characteristic is primarily resistive is called a ...

... SCR by closing S1, the SCR is "blocked" and appears as an open-circuit switch. That action can be understood by examining Fig. 1-b, where is can be seen that, because Q1's base is shorted to the cathode terminal via R1 and R2, Q1 is cut off through lack of base current. Therefore Q1 feeds no base cu ...

Power MOSFET

A power MOSFET is a specific type of metal oxide semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) designed to handle significant power levels.Compared to the other power semiconductor devices, for example an insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) or a thyristor, its main advantages are high commutation speed and good efficiency at low voltages. It shares with the IGBT an isolated gate that makes it easy to drive. They can be subject to low gain, sometimes to degree that the gate voltage needs to be higher than the voltage under control. The design of power MOSFETs was made possible by the evolution of CMOS technology, developed for manufacturing integrated circuits in the late 1970s. The power MOSFET shares its operating principle with its low-power counterpart, the lateral MOSFET.The power MOSFET is the most widely used low-voltage (that is, less than 200 V) switch. It can be found in most power supplies, DC to DC converters, and low voltage motor controllers.
