AN9637: Simple Phase Meter Operates to 10MHz

... The value of R23 ensures that the collector voltage drop is greater than 5V (to ensure that D6 turns on). The outputsignal swing is constant at VOS = V+5 -VD5 -VD6. Because the input signals have approximately the same amplitude, the comparators are matched, the output-voltage swing is constant, and ...

II. Design Procedure and calculation for LNA

... Transistor selection is the first and most important step in an LNA design. Choosing a transistor for an RF amplifier is more complicate than choosing it for other application. It involves choosing one in the right package having an adequate current rating, with gain and noise figure capability that ...

... Amplifier or simply amp is any device that changes, usually increases, the amplitude of a signal. The “signal” is usually voltage or current. Amplifier is a device for increasing the power of a signal. It does this by taking energy from a power supply and controlling the output to match the input si ...

Tube sound

Tube sound (or valve sound) is the characteristic sound associated with a vacuum tube-based audio amplifier. After introduction of solid state amplifiers, tube sound appeared as the logical complement of transistor sound, which had some negative connotations due to crossover distortion of early transistor amplifiers. The audible significance of tube amplification on audio signals is a subject of continuing debate among audio enthusiasts. Many electric guitar, electric bass, and keyboard players in several genres also prefer the sound of tube instrument amplifiers or preamplifiers.
