The Impotence of Darwinism

... to a mere footnote. Regarding this change in the Peppered Moth story, evolutionary biologist Jerry Coyne lamented that "From time to time evolutionists re-examine a classic experimental study and find, to their horror, that it is flawed or downright wrong."{4} Even Darwin's Finches from the Galapago ...

Hologenome theory of evolution

The hologenome theory of evolution proposes that evolutionary processes acting at the level of an individual (e.g., a single plant or animal) are acting on the ""holobiont"" community - the interspecies aggregate of a host plus all of its symbiotic microbes. The collective genomes of the holobiont form a ""hologenome"". Variation in the hologenome can then lead to variation in phenotypes upon which natural selection or neutral processes can operate. While there is a rich literature on binary host–microbe assemblages, the hologenome theory is an attempt to align evolutionary and ecological processes with the vast symbiotic complexity inherent in macroscopic organisms. While the development of the theory has been ongoing (see below), the history and most up-to-date expansion was published in an open access platform in August 2015.
