WHAT DO YOU SEE IN THESE PICTURES? LESSON FOR TODAY CLASSIFICATION OF VERBS CLUE FOR INDIVIDUAL WORK a) What is Verb? b) Identify the verbs from the given sentences. I) She works in the field. Ii) I read a book. Iii) she writes a letter. SOLUTION OF INDIVIDUAL WORK A Verb is a word that expresses any action. b) He works in the field. c) I read a book. d) She writes a letter. a) CLUE FOR PAIR WORK 1) How many kinds of Verbs are there? 2) What are they? 3) Write down the definition of two kinds of verbs with examples. SOLUTION FOR PAIR WORK a) Verbs are mainly of two kinds. b) They are – 1) Finite Verb & 2) Non- Finite Verb c) Finite Verb: A Finite Verb agrees or changes with the number & person of the subject. It also changes with the time or tense of the verb. A sentence is incomplete without a Finite verb. Examples: 1) I drew a picture. 2) Supti sings a song. SOLUTION OF PAIR WORK Non- Finite Verb: Non-Finite Verbs are those that do not change their forms according to the number & person of the subject. Examples: 1) He wants to go home. 2I saw him going to school. 3) Reading makes a man wise. GROUP WORK 1) Write down the classification of Finite Verb with definition and examples. SOLUTION OF GROUP WORK 1) Finite verb is of two kinds. a) Principal Verb & b) Auxiliary Verb. ## Principal Verb A verb which expresses its meaning completely & independently is called Principal Verb. ## Principal Verb A verb which expresses its meaning completely & independently is called Principal Verb. Examples : a) We see a bird. b) He takes bread at night. ## Auxiliary Verb. An auxiliary Verb helps a principal Verb to form different tenses, moods and voice. They can’t stand alone.
