MEIOSIS FLIP BOOK
Purpose: Your task is to create an ‘index card’ flip movie that shows the
following ‘basic’ steps of Meiosis.
Directions:
For each card: ANIMAL Cell 2N=4.
A. Front side of each card: At the top of the card label the stage of Meiosis
(Prophase I, Metaphase I, etc...), and at the bottom draw a colored picture of the
phase using the chromosome number listed above. You must accurately draw
each stage- make each cell the ‘same’ size and color.
B. Back of each card: Write the title and description of what happens in each
stage. Use your notes to help you describe each stage.
Card 1: The Cover: Meiosis, your name, date, and period.
Card 2: Interphase: The time before meiosis. The cells may appear inactive
during this stage. The cell grows and makes structures to use during the rest of
the cell cycle.
Card 3: Prophase I
Card 4: Metaphase I
Card 5: Anaphase I
Card 6: Telophase I
Card 7: Cytokinesis I
Card 8: Prophase II
Card 9: Metaphase II
Card 10: Anaphase II
Card 11: Telophase II
Card 12: Cytokinesis II
