Pre-writing/Outline for Myth: Lesson learned/Event that has helped shaped YOUR identity: (*This is what your entire myth will be referencing.) You can’t be friends with everyone. Exposition: Setting – paint a picture for your audience about the time, place, weather, and “social climate” Mount Olympus – During the time of Greek Mythology, End of Summer Gods and Goddesses really like Sapphiria (which upsets Athena) Characters – main character/s (protagonist), antagonist, family, friends *be sure to SHOW rather than just tell the character’s characteristics Zeus (father of Sapphiria and Athena) – Sapphiria – beautiful, adored by everyone (except Athena) ; naïve – doesn’t take people’s advice, gullable – can’t see through Athena Athena – also beautiful, adored – but not as much as the “new” Sapphiria; vengeful, jealous – wants to get rid of Athena Rising Action: Introduce Problem – What is the issue in the story? For whom is it an issue? Why is it a problem? Zeus and others warn Sapphiria of Athena’s jealousy , but Sapphiria just wants to be friends with her Events leading up to the climax - There are warnings of Athena’s anger/jealousy - Sapphiria is making a floral headdress and Athena comes up to her “trying to be her friend” - Sapphiria is so excited that Athena wants to be her friend that she will do anything for her - Athena convinces her that she wants to be “twins” and have the same floral headdress but Sapphiria has used the last flower. - Sapphiria (wanting to please Athena) offers to go down to earth and pick some of the last flowers Athena decides to show her a “short cut” so no one will know that Sapphiria has even left Mount Olympus. Climax – the highest point of anticipation (make or break moment for the main character/s) -Athena says “goodbye” and pushes Sappihria down a hole Falling Action – What are the events that happen after the climax? (How is the climax dealt with?) - Sapphiria lands in Hades – realizing her mistake of trusting Athena and trying to be friends with her though she was fully warned to not Resolution – What is the outcome after the climax/after the problem is “solved”? Athena “wins” (shown by the headdress) and Sapphiria loses due to her need to be liked
