9th/10th Grade Human Reproduction Outcomes
Human Reproduction (this went through the human reproduction committee which we followed the Michigan
Merit)
Goal of Human Reproduction
 Sexuality education will equip students with the knowledge and skills to develop healthy relationships and
to avoid sexual behaviors that put them at risk for HIV, STI’s and unintended pregnancy. This education
will prepare and empower students to make responsible choices regarding the physical, emotional,
mental and social aspects of their sexuality.
Standard of Sexuality Education
Students will:
1) Gain knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
2) Analyze characteristics of healthy and unhealthy relationships.
3) Evaluate positive and negative influences on sexual decisions.
4) Evaluate the possible emotional, physical, and legal consequences of early sexual activity.
5) Advocate for abstinence as the only 100% effective way to avoid pregnancy, HIV and sexually transmitted
infection.
6) Accurately assess their risks for HIV, other STI’s and pregnancy.
7) Demonstrate effective skills for avoiding or escaping risky sexual situations.
8) Communicate effective ways to access and the correct use of various risk reduction methods.
9) Communicate with parents and other trusted adults regarding reproductive health, relationships, and
sexual decisions.
10) Seek additional information, support, and services as needed.
