Respiration?
An important system in which oxygen and
carbon dioxide are exchanged between
cells, blood, and air in the lungs.
Main Job?

It is a simple task, to
exchange oxygen and
carbon dioxide.
 However, without
oxygen, cells lose much
of their ability to
produce ATP
 ATP is needed to
synthesize new
molecules, pump ions,
and carry nerve
impulses.
-Your body keeps
up with your needs,
like running, the
muscle cells need
more oxygen to do
what you want.

Inhaled, they fill up with oxygen
and other gases, then as a gas
waste, carbon dioxide is
exhaled.
This allows the volume of
the chest cavity to
expand, therefore allowing
us to breath, thus air
rushing into the passages.

clustered like grapes are
wrapped around a delicate
layer of thin capillaries in

then grabbed by the
blood. Oxygen and
carbon dioxide pass
through two layers,
the epithelium, and
the wall of capillary.

There is one small difference, birds need more air sacs
for flight. When taking off, birds require more strength to
hover, when in the air they require less from lifting winds,
but with the high altitudes it is hard to breath, therefore
more air sacs.
