Creature Feature Entry: Cell City
The cell is the basic unit of structure for all living things that possesses all of the
characteristics of life. Each component of a cell has a specific function that is
necessary for the operation of the entire cell as a unit. It can be compared to a
city or community, with each organelle important to the operation of the entire
community.
“The cell wall of a plant cell would be similar to the bricks that make up a
wall around the giraffe house at the zoo.”
Make analogies between the functions of the various cell parts and functions of
the components of a city. To do this, insert a graphic of an element of a city to
each cell parts slide to represent the function of the cell.
