Proposal:
Delete MKTG 3400 New Product Development (Hours: 4)
Effective Date: Fall 2014
Rationale:
Provide a rationale for the deletion. This might include:
MKTG 3400 New Product Development course has never been offered. To help students
better select courses from the course list, we propose deleting MKTG 3400 from our
catalog.
The deletion does not affect the current setting of the curriculum. No course requires
MKTG 3400 as a prerequisite. As a topic, the marketing faculty covers new product
development including MKTG 3100 (Principles of Marketing) and MKTG 4400 (Marketing
Strategy).
Effect on Students:
No students are enrolled currently in the course. Therefore, the deletion does not affect
student enrollment. The subject is covered in other marketing courses. Thus, students are
learning the material.
Effect on Staffing:
 Business, Accounting, and Economics faculty do not currently teach MKTG 3400. This
decision does not affect course offerings, teaching loads, or the use of adjuncts. It does not
affect INSY, FYS, SYE, HPES or courses offered by other departments.
Revised 2013 January
Is this course deletion the result of the elimination of a major/minor deletion? No
If yes, include proposal (or evidence of previous approval) for deleting the major/minor.
Communication:
Describe your plans for communicating to affected students about the changes.
Students will receive an email from the department. Advising sheets and the course catalog will be
updated to reflect the deletion of MKTG3400. Finally, advisors will inform their advisees that the
course is not included in the Marketing curriculum.
