Clinton River Watershed Council - Environmental Science Intern 2016
Internship Length: Internships are available year round. The length of the internship can be tailored to
the students needs. Typically, the busiest period of time for both field and office experience is April-June
and August-October. We typically offer an average of 15 hours per week, however, our internship
program is flexible and designed to fit our weekly needs as well as the students school and work
schedule.
Pay: We offer paid and unpaid internships. Interns interested in a paid internship must apply by March 1,
2016.
Brief Description of Internship: Interns must be 18 years or older. Interns will get hands on experience
with water quality monitoring, field work, assisting with environmental educational programs, general
office tasks, field equipment inventory and working with scientific data. Interns will have opportunities to
work in an office setting, at local events and in the field with staff and volunteers. All applicants should be
extremely motivated.
Qualifications/Skills Required: Strong written and verbal communication skills; Good Organization
Skills; Strong Leadership Skills; Ability to work with public; Critical Thinking Ability; Strong Problem
Solving Skills; Ability to Work Both Independently and Cooperatively; Follow Up Abilities; Available to
work some nights or weekends.
Applicants with one or more of the following additional qualifications will be highly considered for
a paid position: Open availability throughout the week, experience in GIS, field experience, experience
working with students in educational programs, environmental planning.
The Intern should be able to:




lead groups of students and/or volunteers during water quality monitoring events
represent CRWC for watershed programs and events (River Day, Earth Day, Clean ups, etc.)
facilitate hands on science activities for environmental events
work in the field collecting data under a variety of conditions
The length of the internship and the start and end dates is negotiable. Interns will be expected to work
during the day, some evenings and some weekends.
Requirement: must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
