Q.
Consumer Question: I would like to be clear on the definition of busbar.
2
Usually, in utility terms, the definition becomes important relating to
3
delivery point for power.
4
(a)
Has Nalcor ever defined the point of delivery for the PPA?
5
(b)
Is the defined delivery point for purposes of PPA the Muskrat Falls
6
busbar or is it out of the converter to the 230 kV side at Soldiers
7
Pond?
8
(c)
Does a draft PPA exist?
9
10
11
A.
Typically, the 'busbar' is located on the low voltage side of the generator
12
transformer at the generating facility. Nalcor's generation expansion plan and CPW
13
analyses account for losses at the generating facility as well as converter and HVdc
14
transmission losses to Soldiers Pond.
15
16
(a)
For the purposes of its DG2 analysis, Nalcor has assumed the point of
17
delivery to be Muskrat Falls. The actual delivery point will be established
18
when the commercial terms of the PPA are finalized.
19
(b)
See (a) above.
20
(c)
Please refer to Nalcor’s response to PUB-Nalcor-50.
