Charging by Magnetism Since you can create a magnetic field by running electricity through a wire, can you create electricity using a magnetic field? Electromagnetic Induction • To generate an electric current, a magnet must be in motion. – You could move the magnet relative to the conductor OR – Move the conductor relative to the magnet Electromagnetic Induction • Generates an electric current in a conductor by moving a magnetic field around the conductor • Used in electric generators and hydroelectric power plants.
