Network
YOUR RECORDS IN YOUR
HANDS WHEN YOU NEED THEM
The GetWell Network turns the television in patients’
rooms throughout Community’s three hospitals into an
entertainment and education portal where patients can
view video education courses and discharge instructions
tailored just for them – in English or Spanish. Such
technology shows patients and their families exactly
what improvements they must achieve to be discharged
and how to make sure healing continues at home,
with videos on how to care for stitches and take their
follow-up medication.
Patients can type requests and comments to nurses, order
meals and provide feedback to the nutrition staff on the
interactive GetWell Network. At Community Regional on
some units, a nightly inquiry on the TV asks patients to
rate how quiet the environment is so adjustments can
be made to help patients sleep.
The GetWell Network also helps nursing staff and
physicians keep track of the education family and
patients are viewing so they can check for understanding
and answer questions.

In an effort to better engage patients and their families
in their own care, Community’s MyChart provides 24/7
online access to electronic health records. This free tool
allows patients to see portions of their medical records
and view test results, medications, immunizations and
allergies using a computer, tablet or smartphone. Patients
can also send messages to their healthcare team,
request prescription renewals and appointments and see
summaries of past appointments or inpatient stays.
Many doctors’ offices are now communicating with their
patients through MyChart, notifying them by email when
their health information is updated.
