Everybody knows the word and everybody uses it (at least in his own language): NOTHING.
But if you think about NOTHING, a lot of questions arise:
Nothing? Zero?
What is NOTHING? Does NOTHING exist? Which value, which condition has it?
Is it positive or negative? And what is the meaning of NOTHING for the society, the
religions and the art - when it is very often used to describe a recommencement (zero
hour, ground zero, etc.)? Or is it only a mistake in human thinking?
These questions are standing within a long tradition of works by known and unknown artists
and philosophers. In their work they attempted to explore the value of NOTHING, of silence,
of emptiness and the mystery of it. And these questions are the motive for the archives of
NOTHING.
The mobile archives of NOTHING will guide the look to the multifarious forms of NOTHING
in society, science, art history and contemporary art. Thoughts, ideas, visions, utopia,
conceptions and works about NOTHING and also the related fields silence, emptiness
and zero, will be collected in the archives.
The archives opened to the public in locations like galleries, museums and independent
and public art spaces in 2006. With it’s headquarters being in Muenster (Germany), the
archives of NOTHING will be going on tour.
For a great variety of the archives now this proclamation to everybody:

Personal thoughts, works and actions regarding NOTHING. This could be an answer to the
question “What is NOTHING?”, simply a text about faineance or, for example, a text about
nothing, silence, etc. in a roman or other book. There are a lot of possibilities!
Text and works about NOTHING from scientists like philosophers, sociologists, ethnologists,
theologians, mathematicians and others.
Works about NOTHING from artists, writers and musicians in art and music history.
Conceptions and works (realized or unrealized) about NOTHING from contemporary artists,
writers and musicians of all fields.
All forms of documentation like audio (CD, MC), film and video (CD, DVD, VHS), photo and
text are welcome.
