Reeky
Reeky was born on the 23rd Nov. in the year 1979, in Kokata, to a musically affluent family. His
father Nand kumar Das was an arranger and conductor for in Hindi & Bengali movies and had
worked under the likes of Salil Chowdhary and R.D. Burman. Reeky started learning the Guitar
at the tender age of four.
At the age of 6 he started composing his 1st song. His mother Sharmishtha Burman - Das has
been teaching music to school and college students in Kolkata was the first one to introduce
Reeky to practice the keyboard. Reeky developed tremendous sense of music as he used to
accompany his father on the studios of the famous musician Anand Shankar.
During his school and college life he was very popular amongst the students as he used to win
all the music contests. He has successfully with distinction passed Rabindra Sangeet from
Bangiya Parishad, Kolkata. He was a singing sensation in the inter-collegiate festivals and had
a huge teenage fans following in Kolkata in 1990’s. He felt motivated that his music is very well
accepted but his destination was to grow big and go beyond regional music as he had learned
programming of songs, writing lyrics, singing and music direction. He felt the Bollywood calling
and at the age of 22 left Kolkata in search of better options in music industry in Mumbai.
He started to do programming with the composer Jatin Sharma, Anu Malik, Pritam and team of
A. R. Rehman where he got hands on experience to work on remixes and dance numbers.
Reeky is a prolific musician where creativity just flows through him in forms of composition and
his mesmerizing voice has got a deep sense of calling which leaves his listeners asking for
more. A hard working young person without any support or background in Mumbai struggling to
make a mark fortunately met a film producer Ashok Nanda who offered him to do music for his
forthcoming release ‘Ek Diwana Tha’. He has been music director for his movie where the
songs are sung by Sonu Nigam, Kumar Sanu, Hari Haran, Sukhvinder Singh, Vasundara Das,
Kunal Ganjawala and Sunidhi Chauhan. Suresh Thomas of BMG Crescendo Music offered him
Music Album of singer Neha Nagpal which is currently released and the songs are on air in on
M TV & Channel V. His other portfolios include programming songs for Music Director Preetam
for T-Series Jimy Johnny, ‘Yeh Raat’ Remix, Yara Ve Remix of Naksha (in the name of Zero
DB) by T-Series, Arun Dagas ‘Jeena’ for T-Series. Recently his film ‘Rivaz’. He also worked in
Khaki in the song Aisa Jaadu Dala Re and various other hit songs.
Reeky’s first hindi movie ‘Rivaz’ where he is Music Director, Singer and has done background
music has been selected New York film festival in July 2007.
The movie is in top eighteen platinum category and is distinct achievement for Reeky. His album is a unique blend of different musical flavors, which includes passionate, romantic
song like Dhire Dhire Jalo, to dance numbers. Additional percussions has been played by noted
Shiv Mani, flute has been played by Naveen, the lyrics have been written by Kumar Gill, Vijay
and Raj. This album has been result of his three years of devoted work in programming,
composing, singing and music direction in Mumbai.
Currently working on a instrumental album releasing from Sony with the team of A.R. Rehman
