Tabloid
Generic Name: Thioguanine
Drug type
Tabloid works to stop cancer cells from growing and
helps get rid of the cancer.
What this drug is used for
Acute myeloid leukemia or ___________________
How this drug is given
This is a tablet taken by mouth 1 time a day. The size
of your dose depends on many things. Your doctor
will decide on the best dose for you.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you think about
it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip it
and take the dose at your normal time. Do not take
two doses at the same time. If you miss two doses,
call the clinic to find out what to do.
Make sure your health care team knows about all the
medicines and supplements you take. This will help
prevent drug interactions.
Side effects
Most people do not have all the side effects listed.
Side effects will usually go away after the treatment
is complete.
Common side effects
(occur in more than 3 out of 10 people)
• Low white blood cells (infections, fever)
• Low red blood cells (shortness of breath, feeling
weak or faint)
• Low platelets in blood (bleed and bruise easily)
Less common side effects
(occur in less than 3 out of 10 people)
• Nausea (feel sick to your stomach)
• Vomiting (throwing up)
• Do not feel like eating
• Change in liver tests
Call your health care team if you have:
• A fever of 100.5ºF (38ºC) or higher
• Nausea so bad you cannot eat, and medicines do
not help.
• Repeated bleeding (bloody urine, black,
tarry stools).
