Rajapuri Banana
Musa 'Rajapuri'
Height: 8 feet
Spread: 5 feet
Sunlight:
Hardiness Zone: 9a
Description:
A smaller variety that is not only ornamental, it produces
sweet edible yellow fruit; best suited to warm temperate
climates and can take light freezes; a nice garden accent
or container plant
Ornamental Features:
Rajapuri Banana has attractive green foliage throughout
the season. The enormous glossy oval leaves are
ornamentally significant but do not develop any
appreciable fall color. The flowers are not ornamentally
significant. The yellow fruits are held in abundance in
spectacular clusters in late fall, which are excellent for
fresh eating.

Landscape Attributes:
Rajapuri Banana is a multi-stemmed deciduous dwarf
tree with an upright spreading habit of growth. Its
strikingly bold and coarse texture can be very effective in
a balanced landscape composition.
This dwarf tree will require occasional maintenance and
upkeep, and should never be pruned except to remove
any dieback, as it tends not to take pruning well. It has no
significant negative characteristics.
Rajapuri Banana is ideal for use as a garden accent or
patio feature, and is recommended for the following
landscape applications;
- General Garden Use
- Accent
- Orchard/Edible Landscaping
- Hedges/Screening
- Container Planting

Plant Characteristics:
Rajapuri Banana will grow to be about 8 feet tall at
maturity, with a spread of 5 feet. It has a low canopy with
a typical clearance of 1 feet from the ground. It grows at a
fast rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to
live for approximately 30 years.
This dwarf tree should only be grown in full sunlight. It
does best in average to evenly moist conditions, but will
not tolerate standing water. It is not particular as to soil
type or pH. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution.
This particular variety is an interspecific hybrid.
This plant is not reliably hardy in our region, and certain
restrictions may apply; contact the store for more
information.
