The bulb of the tiger lily is the
only part that is eaten.
Traditionally, they were
harvested in the late summer, but
could be harvested as late as
November.
TIGER LILY
Tiger lilies have single flowers or
small clusters of flowers. The
narrow leaves grow along the
stem. Tiger lilies can grow more
than a meter tall. The flowers
bloom in the summer. They are
bright orange or yellow with
purple spots on the inside.

benefits and eating them leads to a longer life.
Tiger lily bulbs taste peppery and bitter, so they can be used to
make food spicy. They can be boiled, steamed, or pit-cooked.
The bulbs are almost always eaten cooked. Fresh and dried bulbs
can be used in soups or with meat and fish. They were also mixed
with berries. After the bulbs are cooked, they can be dried in the
sun. The bulbs can be used whole or mashed into cakes.
