Gram Positive Bacteria:

(+), purple/black, coccus

(+), purple/black, coccus
Gram Negative Bacteria:
The purpose of the Gram staining lab is to distinguish between Gram
positive and Gram negative groups. This is done by coloring the cells
reddish pink or purple. When this is done a Gram positive bacteria
retains the color purple due to the thicker layer of peptidoglycan in it's
cell wall.
