Greek Unit Assignments
I. You will be reading several myths. While you are reading, you need to take notes on
the following:
A. Describe the gods/goddesses.
1. How do they look?
2. Explain how they treat each other and humans.
3. Do they possess any powers or abilities?
4. Pick a god/goddess that interests you. Know enough about this particular god/
goddess to complete other projects.
B. Creation
1. How do the Greeks believe the world was created?
C. Monsters
1. Describe the monsters and their powers.
2. Do the monsters live in a certain place?
3. Did a god/goddess create the monster?
4. Is the monster helpful or harmful to humans?
D. Heaven and Hell
1.Explain the Greek view of Heaven and Hell
II. Design a Greek god, goddess, and monster
Based on what you have learned about Greek mythology, create a Greek god,
goddess, and monster. These will be presented to the rest of the class.
A. Draw a picture for each. I have white paper for you.
B. Write a brief summary for each.
1. Your creation is the god of what?
2. Explain the powers or abilities of you god, goddess, and monster.
3. What relation are your gods to the Greek gods?
III. Write a Greek myth
Most of the myth writing will be completed during class time. I have guidelines that
will help you when writing the myth. We will be using the Media Center to type your
myths. These will be presented to the rest of the class.
IV. Letter writing
We will be learning how to write friendly and business letters. You will write a
friendly letter and a business letter to a Greek god, goddess, or monster. There will be a
test on the proper forms of both types of letter.
