Groovy Greek Gods and Goddesses
6th Grade Social Studies
The Greek gods and goddesses were a colorful group. In order to better understand the
legacy of the myths and legends associated with the following group, you will research a god or
goddess in Grolier Online Encyclopedia and also from an internet web quest provided by the
librarian. The web quest will be posted on the Beaver School Library website –
www.beaverschoollibrary.homestead.com on the “Pathfinders” page. (You may only use
internet sites approved by your instructors!) Using the information, you will create a three-slide
PowerPoint presentation describing an assigned character and the impact of that character on the
world today.
Slide #1 – include both the Greek and Roman names and a picture of the god/goddess.
Be sure to put your name on this slide also. Pictures used for your slides need to be approved
by your teacher or your librarian!
Slide #2 – research the myth associated with your character and depict the details of the
myth through words and pictures. Be sure to include their special symbols! Be creative!
Slide #3 – research the present-day impact of the myth and show example(s). This might
be a business named for your god or goddess, a symbol associated with your god or goddess,
and/or a word that is derived from your god/goddess. This information will be found on the
internet sites provided by the web quest.
