Crescendo is building an exciting portfolio of novel oncology products in areas of high unmet need, including both Immuno-Oncology modulators and Humabody Drug Conjugates (HDCs) that leverage the advantages of the Humabody format. We are looking for a Research Scientist with a strong biology background to carry out preclinical biology and translational pharmacology experiments to help drive Crescendo’s novel Humabody projects into the clinic. The role will include: Developing and delivering low/medium throughput biology assays and datasets to support the progression of novel Humabody drug discovery projects in Oncology with a focus on immuno oncology and Humabody drug conjugates. Developing and performing in vitro and ex-vivo assays to assess the activity and mechanism of action of Humabody leads and candidates. Being part of a cross-functional project team by bringing knowledge and understanding of relevant biological assays and mechanisms to project work to support progression of projects. Carrying out a range of in vitro techniques such as ELISA, FACS analysis, functional cell based assays, immune cell and tumour cell culture. Performing assays on tissue and plasma samples in order to measure PK and PD endopoints. Co-ordinating and tracking sample transfer between CROs. Expertise/Knowledge The successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge and experience of some of the following Design and execution of a range of in vitro assays eg ELISA, FACS and cell based functional assays eg cell proliferation, cytokine release, migration, marker upregulation etc. Experience of cell culture, aseptic technique and experience with culturing tumour cells and preferably primary immune cells. Sound knowledge of assay optimisation and performing medium to low throughput assays. Practical experience of working with tissue and/or plasma samples in in vitro assay systems. Knowledge of tumour biology or immunology and tumour microenvironment would be an advantage. Experience of drug discovery and antibody therapeutics/biologics would be an advantage. Person Specification Degree or PhD or equivalent experience in a field relevant to biology/pharmacology/immunology or oncology.
