enGene Inc.
enGene Inc. is a Canadian biotechnology company developing an innovative mucosal
immunotherapy platform for treating several prevalent, chronic diseases including
inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and diabetes. enGene has developed a proprietary,
highly flexible, non-integrating biopolymer based nucleotide (DNA and siRNA) delivery
technology that facilitates localized delivery of immune-modulating proteins to the
intestinal mucosa for treating various immune disorders.
Job Description:
The successful candidate, under the supervision of the manager of assay development,
will develop and perform experiments in assay development and molecular biology in
support enGene’s drug development programs. The position requires basic use of
scientific methods, understanding of scientific theory and application analytical skills to
implement assigned projects and trouble-shoot issues arising during experiments.
Qualifications:
• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in biological sciences and a minimum of three years of relevant
experience
• Experience in RT-qPCR, ELISAs and molecular biology techniques
• Experience in cell culture and in vitro transfection techniques
• Ability to adapt to changes quickly and work effectively under pressure.
• Ability to communicate effectively to facilitate meeting timelines.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills (both English and French).
Responsibilities:
• Establish and perform potency assays.
• Establish and perform ELISAs, RT-qPCR to verify protein for in vitro and in vivo
studies
• Perform molecular biology techniques (transformation, restriction enzyme
digests, DNA isolation) as needed.
• Maintain cell lines and performs in vitro transfection experiments.
• Develop and qualify new assays in support of CMC and biological sample
analysis.
• Participate in planning experiments and evaluating/interpreting test results.
• Perform laboratory tests and/or experiments following established standard
operating protocols (SOP). Develop and implement Laboratory policies and
procedure by update existing SOPs and draft new SOPs.
