CONTEMPORARY MUSIC LEADER
LITHOPOLIS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
Salary at $7,500 per year
Music leader to lead music in our Sunday morning Contemporary worship service
INDIVIDUAL QUALITIES
Passion for Jesus
Passion for music
Desire to make a difference in the lives of the unchurched, unsaved and others
Relational skills / relationship builder.
Effective and efficient communicator - via e-mail, church mailings, and face-to-face
Leader / Manager – ability to lead people / ability to train others to lead
Friendly & Approachable - Able to effectively interact with musicians and congregation
Proficient in a musical instrument (preferably voice, guitar or keyboard)
Show a knowledge of modern worship music, traditional hymns, and secular songs
appropriate for a worship setting.
Understand and be able to champion the church’s mission, vision and journey and the
theology and traditions of the United Methodist Church with a passion for connecting
people to Christ through music and worship.
KEY RESULT AREA #1: LEADERSHIP
Supporting Goal: Shepherd the development, growth and direction of the Music Team Ministry
Performance Standards:
A. Provides an organized, nurturing, and fun worship team rehearsal each week
B. Provides an attitude of humility in this servant leadership role
C. Demonstrates an ability to develop, recruit, and grow the ministry
D. Grows a team of musicians both in musical and faith development
E. Has the heart of a Coach - Role model - Equipper
KEY RESULT AREA #2: MINISTRY
Supporting Goal: Provides vibrant worship music ministry
Performance Standards:
A. Chooses music in cooperation with other music ministry participants and pastoral leaders
B. Regular prayer for ministry and participants
C. Ongoing recruitment of new musicians and vocalists
D. Recruiting, training, and equipping both new and current participants
E. Other worship leading responsibilities as they occur (Christmas Eve, Holy Week, etc.)
KEY RESULT AREA #4: COMMUNICATIONS
Supporting Goal: Ensures relationship building through communication
Performance Standards:
A. Is able to hear, discuss and respond to input from the music team
B. Works with musicians, vocalists, tech support and pastors keeping communication active
C. Fosters a network of communication within the congregation and community
D. Be able to maintain confidences, effectively listen and communicate, and have the ability
to resolve conflicts in a productive and God-honoring manner.
KEY RESULT AREA #5: ADMINISTRATION
Supporting Goal: Efficiently administer the Music Team Ministry
Performance Standards:
A. Plans and leads weekly practice session (approx. 2 hours per week)
B. Coordinates all aspects of the Music Team Ministry
C. Provides chord charts, make copies, schedule worship team members, help with equipment
set up, and make necessary emails/phone calls.
D. Provides mp3/YouTube music selections for singers.
C. Coordinates completion of all administrative tasks related to the Music Team Ministry
D. Works cooperatively with key leaders for the development of the ministry
