Optical realization of the quantum walk on a line.
Abstract:
In the talk I will present in some detail the setup and preliminary results of an ongoing
experiment in which the quantum walk on the line has been realized using polarized photons
and an optical interferometric loop. In the experimental realization, the position space
corresponds to time bins of the single photon pulse, and the coin space to its polarization. The
two operators S and C consituting the evolution operator of the quantum walk U=SC are
realized by a polarization dependent delay line and an optical half wave plate, respectively.
