LIVER – ALL LOBES
caudate
The caudate lobe of the liver is only found
on the right side. The largest portion is
caudal to the right lateral lobe of the liver.
left lateral
left medial
The left lateral lobe of the
liver is caudal to the left
medial lobe. It is the larger
of the two lobes on the left
side.
papillary process of caudate lobe
The papillary process of the caudate lobe of the liver is only found on
the right side. It is a relatively small portion of the caudate lobe and it
is found dorsal to the lesser omentum (gastrohepatic ligament) and
to the left of the common bile duct and the hepatic artery. It is one of
the two portions of the caudate lobe of the liver that can be tagged.
right lateral
The right lateral lobe of
the liver is caudal to the
right medial lobe and
cranial to the caudate
lobe. It is smaller than the
right medial lobe.
The left medial lobe
of the liver is cranial
to the left lateral
lobe. It is the smaller
of the two lobes on
the left side.
quadrate
The quadrate lobe of the liver is
only found on the right side. It is
between the gall bladder and the
left medial lobe. It gets its name
because it is sometimes four sided
in appearance.
right medial
The right medial lobe of the
liver is cranial to the right
lateral lobe and lateral to the
quadrate lobe. It is larger
than the right lateral lobe.
